Jaw crusher vs. impact crusher for primary stage

In limestone and hard-rock primary crushing, buyers argue whether a jaw or an impact chamber delivers lower cost per ton of on-spec product.

Jaw crusher (side A)

Simple toggle geometry, lower liner cost and wide tolerance for feed hardness (Mohs ≤ 9). Preferred when blast fragmentation is coarse (feed size 900–1,200 mm) and downtime windows are short.

Impact crusher (side B)

Higher cubicity for asphalt fractions, but wear cost rises fast on abrasive granite. Often wins as a secondary after a jaw primary when the tender weights product shape over liner life.

Wet vs. dry screening / wash circuits

Fines recovery versus water and permit cost drives whether sand washing modules sit after the vibrating screen.

Wet processing (side A)

Sand washing and wet decks recover fine fractions and cut dust. Suited where water rights and settling ponds already exist and RCA / concrete sand specs demand washed product.

Dry processing (side B)

Dust-controlled dry screens avoid water infrastructure in arid pits. Trade-off: dust permit limits and baghouse load rise; fines recovery is usually lower than a wash plant.
